Fun Things to do in Oklahoma Summer Heat

Smokin’ Joe’s Rib Ranch

Since the summer is coming up, it’s that season to start up the fire pits, get wood for the grills, and meat to eat. It’s barbecue season and who doesn’t love a good slab of ribs, some beef brisket, and slightly burnt hot dogs?
If you want to enjoy some good food without all the hard work, you should go spend some money at Smokin’ Joe’s Rib Ranch. Between the variety of meats, sides, and desserts to choose from, it will be a great place to enjoy some good barbecue and spend time with family. They have 4.5 stars on yelp and 4.6 stars on Google reviews. J. Mann rated the restaurant 5 stars a year ago and stated “Best ribs you will EVER eat! We travel a lot and I can’t eat ribs anywhere else, the bar is set here!! Recommend sharing as they do give generous portions. We also liked the pulled pork, and smoked ribeye. French Fries and fried okra are my choice for sides. The okra is like my Grandma made it! Highly recommended, more than worth a stop if you are passing through. Worth the wait, and worth eating outside if I have to!” For more information and reviews search them on google or yelp. They are located in Davis, Oklahoma.

Scissortail Park

So, the summer is all about the temperature heating up, and it’s time to go outside and enjoy the great outdoors. Even though it will be hotter than the desert outside, what better way to enjoy some sunshine than going to the park, and I don’t just mean any park. You should go visit Oklahoma’s newest park, the Scissortail Park. It is located in downtown Oklahoma down the street from the Paycom Center.

This park is such a great place to be when you don’t know what you want to do because it has so many activities.. For starters, the landscape is beautiful. It has two ponds that glisten in the sun, and it also has a magnificent garden surrounding it. I promise, I’m not overhyping this park. It is as beautiful as it sounds. There’s a dog park, a boathouse, and several restaurants surrounding the area, so there’s plenty of food to choose from. There are two different pavilions and a playground for children to play at. They also host local events, like the farmers markets where you can buy fresh produce and handmade items. Not only that but they have events throughout the summer.Visit their website to get more information.

Operating hours

Everyday: 6AM-11PM
