After regaining my senses, I tried to find out where I was located. Once I looked around, I saw that I was in an abandoned neighborhood. After thinking about where I could be, I realized that everything was in another language. I don’t know how this happened, but everything around me was different than what I know. That thing was also nowhere to be seen. The only thing that was remotely similar between where I’m from and where I am now is that they both were destroyed and abandoned.
After finding my way out of the neighborhood, all my horrors were confirmed. I was somewhere completely different with no way to home in sight. I tried to look for people, but the city looked like it was a ghost town. In a place where people would usually be everywhere, not seeing people creeped me out. That’s when I saw something out of the corner of my eye. I ran over to see whatever it was, my heart pounding in my ears, trying to catch up to it. Sadly, even with my best efforts, it evaded my pursuit, and now I was even more lost than what I originally thought. The only thing different about where I was now is that there were some running cars with no one in them. I thought of getting in one to make trying and finding out where I was easier.
I found one with a map inside of it. Based on where the markings were on the map, I was actually just a few miles away from my house. That being said, why would everything be in a different language, and what happened to the thing that protected me? Putting those questions in the back of my mind, I drove the car back to where my house was avoiding the rubble. Surprisingly, I didn’t see one person dead or alive on my drive back, which was odd. Before the bomb dropped, there were a lot of people scrambling and trying to get somewhere safe.
After finally making it back to where the house was, I still didn’t find anyone nearby. I tried calling out a couple of times to no avail. After going around for a while, I got hungry and wanted something to eat. I went to the local supermarket to see if I could find anything. I was surprised that the supermarket was still standing, especially after the bomb dropped. Since it was still standing and looked in good condition, I walked in. That’s when I saw everyone that had been gone. All of them dead inside that supermarket. Every single person I had ever known and loved was on the supermarket floor. That’s also where I saw that thing hunched over the dead bodies.
