Nothing in life is promised. You are not promised to wake up the next morning or breathe the next second. It is important to appreciate and be thankful for what you have while it is still here. The School Board Appreciation Month for Putnam City North was in January and Teacher Appreciation Month is in May. But it is always good to let teachers know they are appreciated. “I feel like I am appreciated at this school. Students make me feel appreciated by letting me get to know them, sharing about themselves, and being a resource for students. Students can make me feel further appreciated by going to class on time, having their iPad charged, having integrity, putting kindness out in the world, and treating others the way they need to be treated,” Assistant Principal Morgan Morrissey said.
The definition of a teacher is a person who guides and helps students on a certain topic. Without teachers we really wouldn’t know how to do anything. “I think their jobs are important for the functioning of society. They are important so people can get a job and education. Teachers should be appreciated more because they are very important for a structured society. The best way to show teachers appreciation is actually to try on assignments to give them an easier time on grading and to make them look better,” freshman Bella Bostick said.
Teachers are a very important part of our lives and we should do our best to make sure they are acknowledged for their work. “I feel I am appreciated at this school because students ask about my life and tell me they like a lesson. What students can do to make me feel further appreciated is paying attention while I am talking,” math teacher Jillian Yates said.
Nobody is perfect, but us students should try our best to pay attention to the teachers and treat them with respect. “I appreciate my teachers. I can definitely tell that they are passionate about what they are doing and they work very hard. Looking at them when they’re talking and showing you’re paying attention are some things you could do to make teachers feel further appreciated,” senior Samia Shara said.
In my opinion, I think teachers are very important and should be recognized and appreciated. Being a teacher of any kind is not easy. Some people don’t want to be a teacher because of all the things that come with it. For example, student’s attitudes, lesson planning, extra work you might have to do etc. Teachers help us to grow in knowledge and skill. As Nelson Mandela would say, “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world”.
